Description
This is the Delaware River where it passes through New Jersey and Pennsylvania. It was serene, quiet and beautiful, at that precise moment when day is turning into dusk. The river is about 420 miles long and begins at the mouth of the Delaware Bay. It is a significant river of the USA, passing through five states: Delaware, NJ, Maryland,New York, and Pennsylvania. Needless to say, the river forms natural boundaries through the states it runs through: Pennsylvania and New York, Pennsylvania and New Jersey, and most of the boundary between Delaware and New Jersey.Present day bridges make river crossings fairly easy, but this was not always so. The most famous challenge was George Washington's "Delaware Crossing" in 1776.His army improvised a boat during the American Revolution and managed to achieve a successful surprise attack on the Hessians who were occupying Trenton, NJ.
